The thinker

A Riddle

What can stop the wind from blowing
          where it wants to blow,
what can stop my heart from going
          where it wants to go?
What can stop my loving you
          forever and a day,
what can take God from my heart
and force me not to pray?

What is more than Jesus' love,
          more awesome than His grace,
what is better than His joy
and what can take His place?
What if man were left alone
          to save his sorry soul,
what could mankind do or say
          to stop sin's final toll?

What's more vile than Satan's plan
          to kill, steal and destroy,
what's more wicked than his dreams
          for every girl and boy?
          What could stop him triumphing
          if Jesus turned His back,
what could block the devil's path
          and thwart his next attack?

What do rich folks need more of
and don't have some to spare,
what do poor have plenty of,
in fact, more than their share?
And what, if stacked from end-to-end
could reach up to the sky,
and yet, if you ate all there was
          then you would surely die!

          The answer to this riddle,
as by now you may have guessed,
          is worthy of our worrying
          until we're quite obsessed...
It's what I'll make by writing this,
how much these words will bring:
          it's Nothing, Nada, Zero, Zilch!
          that's right ~ Not anything!!

~ Connie ~

"Ah, Lord GOD! behold, Thou has made
the heaven and the earth
by Thy great power and stretched out arm,
and there is NOTHING too hard for Thee:
Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands,
and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers
into the bosom of their children after them:
the Great, the Mighty God,
the LORD of hosts, is His name."

(Jeremiah 32:17-18 KJV)
