Mother talking to her daughter.

Along the Way

Never burn your bridges
without a last long look.
Never quote a scripture
if you haven't read The Book.

Always temper criticism
with a dash of love.
Don't let anger rule you;
take your cues from the Lord above.

Be ready to stand up tall and strong
to defend what you believe.
Remember to practice the Golden Rule
and never set out to deceive.

Be mindful of sweet Jesus
in all you do and say,
for if you call upon His name,
He'll come and light your way.

Know what it means to be grateful;
understand what it takes to be strong.
Sometimes the road will be easy,
and other times, rocky and long.

If you remember to count your blessings
at the end of every day,
peaceful sleep will find you
and keep bad dreams at bay.

And then when you wake in the morning,
as soon as you open your eyes,
bow your head and speak with the Savior;
pray, with His help, you'll be wise.

Trust that the Spirit will guide you,
and allow your soul to take wing.
Then fly, like a bird, toward Heaven
To rejoice with the Savior, our King.
