Jesus and a crippled man.

Arise

If all the good in all the world
should rise up to its feet,
          then all the evil everywhere
          will suffer vast defeat.

If each of us, in our own time,
          takes only what we need,
          no one will suffer needlessly
          from apathy and greed.

If we honor those who work
and thank the ones who give,
          then everywhere, upon the earth,
          true peace will surely live.

If we can learn that difference
          must not always mean divide,
then we can live in harmony
          with others side-by-side.

If we can sow a seed of trust
and restore a sense of right,
then all the hatred in the world
          will cower down in fright.

If we can do our part
and learn to stand on our own feet,
then none of us will feel the shame
          of bias and defeat.

          If, with all sincerity,
we ll bow on bended knee,
our just and loving God will hear
          and answer every plea.

For we, alone, have no power
to mend the world and its woes,
and so we look to you, O God,
          to banish all our foes.

Lord, rid us of our selfishness,
          our hatred and our greed;
teach us to be kind enough
to help the ones in need.

Grant to us your lasting peace
          that heals and makes us whole;
and thank you for the precious gift
          of our immortal souls.
