At Lazarus' Tomb

He stood weeping just outside the tomb
Where His good friend Lazarus lay;
Moved to death by wicked sin,
Beginning to decay

Tears coursed down his manly face,
Knowing the ravages of sin,
That took the life of all mankind,
Even His closest friends.

That was why our Savior came,
With sorrow in His heart,
To overcome the enemy
And bid foe death, depart.

Here was help in time of need;
For He had come to know our pain,
He was wounded for our transgressions,
For our iniquities He came.

But when He stood outside the tomb
And cried LAZARUS, COME FORTH!
Lazarus rose right up and came right out
To his Master, God and Lord.

What joy is in the heavens,
What peace has come to earth
When Jesus calls His children
And gives us Spiritual birth.

And then one day He calls us home
To live with Him for aye
Never more will death overcome
To take our lives away.
