God of the Ordinary

There's lots of things I just can't do
And I used to feel ashamed
I'd try my best and often fail
"What's the use of playing games?"

But there's a truth that seemed elusive
A truth I failed to see
When serving my Lord Jesus
It's about Him - not me

There's comfort in the knowing
I must simply do my best
God will honor faithfulness
In this truth I find rest

If my God had wanted
Perfect people - perfect lives
Then none of us should dare apply
Though we've given college tries

God looks for willing people
Women, children and their dads
He will do what we can not
Our obedience makes Him glad

I'm nothing without Jesus
He is everything I'm not
I do not possess perfection
But I'll give Him all I've got

Then He'll take my token gesture
And surprise me o'er and o'er
He'll make the ordinary glorious
I wonder what's in store?
