I Like It Like That

Paw's gone ta the cellar jest now,
A-lookin' fer pickled pigs' feet.
All a-sudden, he got a hankerin';
When Paw gets hongry, it's time ta eat!
He allus likes muh home cookin',
No matter what concoction I make,
And when his innards start ta' rumble,
I know it's time fer me ta bake!

I like it like that.

Paw, he's not what I'd call lazy,
But he likes ta rest his bones,
So he lights out fer his ole rocker,
Sits hisself down with a couple-a-groans.
Then I perseed ta rub his back
With liniment from Miz Sallie-May
And he jest smiles and shuts them eyes
Like he could sit right there all day.

I like it like that.

When Paw brings up them pickled pigs' feet,
He'll ask me iffen I want a bite;
He allus shares his favrit treats
Whilst he's a-chompin' with all his might!
He might not have much edjication,
His git-up-an'-go's not easy to see,
But when Paw's watchin' his TV shows,
Ever-so-offen, he winks at me!

I like it like that.

Me and Paw wuz first-grade sweethearts;
Way back then, he caught muh eye,
And when he toted muh books fer me,
I knowed he was my kinda' guy.
We raised a passel-a' rowdy young'uns,
Trained 'em in the good Lord's ways;
We worked durn hard to bring them kids up,
But we laugh about tha good ole days!

I like it like that.

Don't know how I'd ever stand it
If ennythin' were ta happen ta him.
We joke about who's goin' first now
An' check the obits ta see if we're in.
See, we both know we're growin' older;
Our youthful days, we already saw.
We thank the good Lord fer every day
We have together, jest me an' Paw!

I like it like that.
