If You Were Here

If you were here I'd drink you in,
          I'd hang on every word,
No thought would falter to the ground,
          no whisper go unheard.

If you were here I'd be absorbed,
          I'd memorize your face,
No joy I would not magnify,
          no pain I'd not erase.

I'd take your voice into my heart,
          your fragrance to my soul,
I'd seek the very core of you,
          unlock what makes you whole.

If you were here I'd not let go,
          I'd bind you ever near,
I'd love you so, you'd never leave,
          if only you were here.

          ~ Connie ~

          "And Samuel grew,
and the Lord was with him,
and did let none of his words
          fall to the ground."

          (I Samuel 3:19 KJV)
