Jesus On The Cross

It was early in the springtime
when flowers begin to bud,
that Jesus was nailed to the cross
and there He shed His blood.

Jesus could have called the angels
to keep him safe and well,
but He chose the cross and death
and defeated Death and Hell.

Jesus suffered though it all that day
for sinners like you and me,
so that we can someday be with Him
far beyond the raging sea.

Then He spent three days in the tomb
where evil likes to romp and roam,
so by Him we are saved from sin
and can join Him at our heavenly home.

Now let us praise and thank Him
with worship from our hearts,
for what He did on earth that day
so we could have brand-new starts.
