Am I My Country's Keeper?

We are grateful for the gift of life,
and for our right to gather as people of like mind
in this great country which was founded on faith and freedom.
We are a people blessed.

Throughout our history, we have fought for this land with passion,
sacrificing our blood, our sweat, our tears. Our very lives.
Those who came before us have passed the torch.
Only you can answer, Where do we go from here?

As a nation, we have joined together in unity
and torn each other apart in dissention.
Even in times of strong contention, we've remained free ...
free to express our agreement, our opposition, and yes,
our litany of criticism.

We celebrate the victories of freedom every day,
just as we must rage against anyone or anything that threatens it.
Our determination alone must force us to take a stand
and fight for the liberties we hold dear.

God has graced this nation with a life-long history of freedom
and placed on us the responsibility to recognize its fragility.
No one can do that for us. Certainly not a President,
not a Congress, not a Judge.

If you are an American, the burden falls to YOU.
And now, the question is, How will you respond?

the good of the country - not just the special interest groups.  Editor: SkyWriting.Net
