The Rottens are a pair: Gabe, (a Lhasa Apso) and Bailey (a Terrier)The Rotten Boys are growing old
and much of their story has never been told.
Like where did they come from, and where have they been
and all kinds of capers with family and friends.
Age is but a number, it doesn't slow them down;
life's an every day adventure when The Rottens are around.
When Gabe first arrived, he was just a ball of fluff
and right from the beginning, he nosed into all our stuff.
He came from out west, past Hammond, one day
and after he got here, we had to let him stay.
And how did he bribe us to sleep on our bed?
He cried at night til his eyes were all red.
He learned pretty quickly how to get his way;
he cried for a buddy to come over and play.
So we picked up the phone and called all around
til we heard about a feller from down there at the pound.
We drove over just to have a look
and fifteen minutes was all that it took.
Papers were signed and we paid the bail
and that feller named Bailey was sprung out of jail.
From the moment he got here, little Bailey was pretty wise
and the tricks that he knew proved to be a nice surprise.
He could sit up and beg and belt out a song
and best of all, he and Gabe got along.
It's ten years later and they're still quite a pair
(too bad neither one ever learned to comb his hair.)
Little boys, they came, and little boys they stay;
I wonder what they'll get into today?
Really doesn't matter; they got into my heart
just like family right from the start.
And so, I'll enjoy them each and every day;
they're happy being Rottens and I hope they stay that way.
