Sugar Is Sweet, But Who Are You?

          I have the cutest puppy;
          Sugarplum's her name.
          She had such pretty, wavy hair,
          I'd like to have the same.
          Then someone came with doggie shears
          and "groomed" her, (so she said).
          If Sugarplum could see herself,
          she'd hang her doggie head.

          Her lovely locks are missing;
          each rib comes into view.
          You never saw such a skinny bod;
          what can poor Sugar do?
          She sat down on her haunches
          to rest on her cushion of fur;
          alas, the cushion was not there,
          only bones to comfort her.

          She looks like a skinny rainpipe,
          or a greyhound, shrunken down.
          With her fluffy head afloat on top,
          she could pass for a doggie clown.
          Can this be pretty Sugarplum?
          I guess it could be so;
          'cause she made me promise--
          NO VISITORS!--
          until that fur can grow!
