The Call

I heard a voice call my name...
I looked around.
There was no one there and I had to play
with my friends now, so off I went.

I heard a voice call my name...
I was in the bathroom fixing my hair
for the school dance.
I didn't see anyone, "Mom, did you say something?"

I heard a voice call my name...
I was getting ready to go down
the aisle and get married.
I looked around for the speaker
and then hurried away.

I heard a voice call my name...
Not now, not now, I'm giving birth.
Pant, Pant, Blow...
I'm about to encounter a miracle for the first time.

I heard a voice call my name...
I lay in the hospital bed and
I felt so alone, there was no one there.
Where was that voice coming from?

I heard a voice call my name...
my eyes were closed and in the darkness
I could tell that the voice came from within.
It vibrated deep inside my soul and hung in the quiet air.
It was then I realized that it had always been there.
I felt flushed with the rush of love that enveloped me and
wrapped its arms around me.

I had heard a voice calling my name
and I... I had been too busy with living life
to stop and listen to what He had to say
when He had been trying to tell me He loved me.

I hear a voice call my name
and I raise my face to the sky
and close my eyes as my heart fills
with His warmth and love...
"Yes, Lord, I'm listening..."

Often we are to busy to listen until something goes wrong in our life. It's a good thing that God doesn't hold grudges!
