The Wonder Of Elderly Years

(from PSALMS 92: 12-15)

What wonderful days, those elderly years,
When the saint of the Lord overcomes hurts and fears
His roots grown deep in the courts of his God
Grown straight and tall from strong spiritual sod.

His righteousness flourishes like the evergreen palm
In success, joy, and victory, through-out life’s storms;
Durable and fragrant as the Cedar he grows,
With the Word of God his memory glows.

The years when the love of the Lord can flourish
In the saint of God who by the Spirit is nourished
Who shows the uprightness of his God
Cleansed by the shedding of His righteous blood.

God, the Solid Rock, is his life and stay
On Him he meditates night and day
With longing he yearns to see his God
Ere his body lies in peace beneath the sod.

Yes, the elderly years are a gift from his Father
A gift on display to be shared with all others.
This time of life can be his best,
A time to receive blessing and a time to bless.
