Today, The Sun Yawned

The thick whispering blanket
of virgin white
covered the earth
where I live...

Reminding me, of
the Virgin birth
of the Saviour,

In its beauty, majesty
purity and peace.

As the days wore on
came the arctic freeze
and the feverish shaking
where I live...

Reminding me, of
the temptation
of the Saviour,

In its extreme temperature
of hardship, harassment, and heartache.

Deep into the icy clutch
death and depression set in
to the breast and bone of every man
where I live...

Reminding me, of
the preparation
of the Saviour,

In its demand for miracles
or sacrifice.

Father! I cried out,
if it is possible,
remove this cup
I pray...

Reminding me, of
the agony
of the Saviour,

In its oppressive
affliction.

Yesterday, I heard the Woodsman
chopping wood again, to take away
the hopelessness and cleaving chill
where I live...

Reminding me, of
the splintered tree
of the Saviour,

In its seeming absurdity
that one man could save us all.

Today, the first sun
broke through the forest
and touched upon the roof
where I live...

Reminding me, of
the victory over death
of the Saviour,

In its absolute radiance
and assurance.

Today, the sun yawned
and stretched out his arms
penetrating the souls of men
where I live...

Reminding me, of
The Son Who dawned 2007 years ago
And stretched out His Arms,

In His promise of everlasting light
where I live.
