View of the Cross

In the stillness of the night as I lay upon my bed
In my mind I viewed the Cross-
Hanging there weak and beaten was my Savior

Nails driven into His hands and feet
His side pierced and a crown of thorns upon His head
His back with marks of His beatings

Realizing that by those stripes we are healed
Healing for my heart, mind, soul, body and spirit
Knowing that He hung there granting me forgiveness

Love glowing from His eyes as softly He spoke
"My child I have done this for you that where I go you may come also
I am the Light, the Truth, and the Way. No man cometh unto the Father but by me
Come unto me and I will give you rest."

The plan of salvation completed
His purpose in life fulfilled
I bowed before the Cross-of Calvary

Yet in the weakness of His torture He embraced me
Forgiving me, engulfing me with His love
Asking that I walk in His light as He shines it before me

I turned to walk away but I glanced back and He hung there no longer
I walked on coming across His borrowed tomb
The stone had been rolled back

The tomb empty yet His presence surrounded me
As His spirit hovered over my being
Looking into the heavens softly He spoke

"For I go to prepare a place for you."
My task was before me to serve Him daily
And all He was asking that I gently place my hands in His hands and to serve Him

His presence goes with me
My cup runneth over
For the joy of the Lord is my strength

Upon my journey often I glance back, seeing only His footprints
For He picked me up carrying me over the perplexities that life often renders
His love and strength flowing through my body and spirit

As He leads me beside those still waters of life
I'm standing in His presence as He leads me gently
On to greater depths and heights

Knowing I shall dwell in His house forever
Throughout eternity
His only requirement is "Follow Me."
