A Guy for Me

A Bible study group I know ~
A Singles' Class, so long ago;
The teacher said to write the traits
That we'd want most in our life-mates.

He said to make the list complete,
And handed each a single sheet ~
"Now, write the things you want the most!"
And each one wrote, their minds engrossed.

"Integrity," flew in my head,
I must have that before I'd wed;
And old standbys, like "Loyalty" ~
'Cause that would be a *must* for me.

Don't want him young...and please, not old,
He's got to have a heart of gold;
And, "Patience!" Yes! Now, that's a must,
And be a man that I can trust.

A level head, a stable mind,
And I don't want the jealous kind;
A peaceful man, with gentle touch
Who'll fill my needs and wants and such.

It took some time, as I recall,
To find the words that said it all ~
For me, the most *important* part:
"A man that's after God's own heart!"

--Connie, (aka Mrs. Guy Cook)

"I have found... a man after Mine own heart..."
(Acts 13:22b, KJV)
